Goal:
To design two ads for an item with two opposing approach in mind: one utilizing call-outs and copy, and one purely creative, with little to no copy.
Approach:
I chose Pentel's twist erase pencil, which features a sleek, professional design that looked specialized for those who want a serious mechanical pencil. Relying on this, I relied on a clean aesthetic and chose a font that echoes the one on the twist erase pencil itself for the first poster.
Using the same item and changing the focus instead to a professional, creative energy and the pencil's role in the process of refining and sharpening ideas that every creative goes through. I connected that process to the iconic presence of King Kong, which stands in as both the idea as well as an example of how far a big idea can go.
